SLT confirms start of Cable TV in June 2007
SLT hopes to introduce cable television to Sri Lanka by mid 2007. That could be accessed through ADSL. The service will include interactive programs, online games, movies on demand that can be paused rewound and re played as well as many other features. SLT has already incorporated it’s fully owned subsidiary in Hong Kong to provide IP transit, IP VPN, IPSL and international voice transit services to telecom operators in Hong Kong.

Will very much appreciate if you can find out which areas will be covered in its first phase. Also will we have to get an ADSL2+ router for this enhanced service?

I just speak with one of our friends in SLT. He said we have to buy set of equipments to see this cable tv. Surly new router but he doesn't know about ADSL2+. But later SLT plans to provide vi max technology to the customers. This is 100mb wireless line. This service provide all around the country for ADSL customers.
Does they give broadband internet with their CableTV pacakage ???
I thought WiMAX is gonna launch end of this year.. (according to their stall was at INFOTEL this year.)
Wi max is testing now in colombo . They are giving cable tv package through ADSL. That means if you want to see the sri lanka telecom cable tv you must have SLT broad band internet connection. Good thing is rate will go down with the combine services.
Without islandwide adsl coverage how they can do this? this is a dream
Ha.. Call SLT customer care. Then you can find out by your self. SLT give limited number of ADSL connections in 16 districts in sri lanka and wi max connections in colombo.
what is the wimax coverage?
At the recent exhibition SLT was demonstrating TV streaming using ADSL2+. So I guess they will launch ADSL2+ shortly.
What I would like to know which areas will be covered during the INITIAL period.
I guess 2007 will the DTH and CABLE TV year!!
SLT Customer care is clueless.
If any one know about ADSL2+ pl send a detail email to us. and please let us know who is incharge of ADSL2+ in SLT.
ADSL2+ modems and routers are now on sale at most SLT Teleshops

SLT wont be launching CDMA EVDO or WIMAX near future and they are Planing to launch the ADSL +2 February 2007. thats the mail i got from them. the way they explane to me in infortel about ADSL +2 will be upgrade of current ADSL subscribers. Even the areas ADSL available they are not giving new connection you have to register and wait..

I am sorry i cant fwd that mail. its official mail.(i will get kicked if i do :D ) and CDMA EVDO already using some of BIG CLIENTS (pay monthly 10 million) so small clients like us have to wait..
